Chris Shellard

Chris has over 35 years experience in the public sector including education and training, social policy, economic development, regeneration and land use planning and development. He has led a number research and development initiatives, ranging from training standards development work for the Department for Education and Skill, to economic development for the Government Departments and the European Commission. He has chaired and spoken at national and international conferences and seminars and has designed and facilitated workshops and training events. He has worked for a number of executive search agencies helping to recruit to high profile posts in the public sector.
During the last decade he has lead responsibility for corporate policy, managing change and comprehensive renewal in a number of London boroughs operating at Chief Officer and Director level. Having established the Regional Centre for Neighbourhood Renewal in 2001, he worked closely with a number of local authorities helping develop Local Strategic Partnerships and local neighbourhood renewal strategies. Chris was a member of the national evaluation team for the New Deal for Communities, the development team for Renewal.net and has been appointed by DCLG as national Neighbourhood Renewal Advisor.
Since leaving the public sector he has worked closely with the private sector employers in particular major developers. He is currently retained by Lee Valley Estates as Planning Director of the Hale Village development a high profile, mixed-use scheme in North London. Hale Village will deliver over 1200 residential units, a primary school, a headquarters office building, local retail, student housing and a health-centre. Chris has also acted as an advisor to Barrett Homes East London and a range of commercial and residential developers.
