Mark Tomlinson
Development Director
Mark is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years of experience in the construction and property development world. In particular he has extensive expertise in all types of residential development.
In 1980 Mark joined John Laing Construction Ltd as an Articled Pupil Quantity Surveyor, working on large scale Civil Engineering projects such as the M25 Motorway and the A55 North Wales Coast Road. He soon transferred to the South East Region Building Division of John Laing where he worked on a variety of hospital projects, commercial, industrial and office buildings.
In 1986, he joined Willmott Dixon Housing Ltd specialising in the design and construction of affordable housing for Housing Associations and RSL’s. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1988. At the age of 28 he was appointed Southern Region Director and a year later became Managing Director quickly building the region, up to a £35m a year turnover due to the excellent partnering relationships he established with the key players in the market.
In 1996 he joined the Berkeley Group to become their first ever Commercial Director and join the Board of St George based in Vauxhall South London. In his 9 years with St George he was part of the acquisition and development of several high profile Central London brownfield mixed use schemes including St George Wharf, Battersea Reach, Riverside West in Wandsworth and Putney Wharf. In total these developments encompassed in excess of 2,500 high end residential units together with all the necessary ancillary facilities such as shops, restaurants, health clubs, offices, medical facilities etc. All of these developments were highly successful and have become London destinations in their own right.
In 2005 Mark joined Explore Living plc as Commercial Director for the residential development of Laing O’Rourke. In 2007 he was appointed Managing Director and was responsible for implementing key changes to the house buying processes and combining this with the car industry model of excellent customer service.
Mark joined EPGI in 2011 and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the development process that will help ensure the success of EPGI’s projects both in the UK and abroad.
